GIVING THE RIGHT WAY
The TCS World 10k Bengaluru has always excelled in ways beyond running. It has opened new doors for people to reach out to the less privileged of the society and encourages them to do their bit. It has constantly strengthened its place as one of the most transparent way of giving back to the society. In the 2016 edition, 48 Corporate CareTeams, 34 Care Champions and 114 iCare Runners collectively reached out to 8677 donors, thereby making the event the largest philanthropy platform in this glorious city.
Over 300 Civil Society Organisations (CSOs/NGOs) have raised a stupendous INR 20.28 crores since inception in the year 2008. The impact of this amount on the lives of the people it has touched is immense.
Rebecca Miller once said, “If the whole system doesn’t change a little, then our children will still be having the same conversations”.This year marks the 9th edition of the event and 6th under the title sponsorship of Tata Consultancy Services. It is once again the time for Bengalureans to show that you CARE and believe in doing ‘Good’ for a number of causes like the elderly, children, education, women, environment, disability, health etc. that are associated with the platform.
FUND RAISING THROUGH THE EVENT
At the Tata Consultancy Services World 10K Bengaluru 2016, you can choose the CSO/Cause you wish to support. CSOs representing causes ranging from environment, child welfare, women empowerment, disability, health, animal welfare and more register themselves with India Cares Foundation– the Event’s official Philanthropy Partner. You can also choose to give to the CSOs listed with India Cares on their website. In case your chosen CSO does not feature in the list given on this website, you can urge the CSO to enlist themselves by contacting India Cares.
Some CSOs use this event as a platform to raise awareness for the work they undertake and communicate it to many, while some participate to raise amounts for their organisations and projects. Each CSO is empowered and enabled under the able supervision of India Cares, to reach out to corporates and the citizens of Bengaluru and India.
Through this event, you have an opportunity to choose a cause dear to your heart. Fund raising is encouraged through pledge raising, i.e. each individual is encouraged to reach out to his/her friends, colleagues and family in their fund raising mission and accept donations from them, no matter how small the denomination is. You can raise funds for your chosen CSO with the help of a fundraising kit. These kits are available at the India Cares office mentioned below. These kits are available once an organisation registers. These are designed to motivate and help one to decide on the cause to support and raise funds for.
